The Museum of Women | 2000

Battery Park City, New York City

A closed competition for a Museum of Women provided the opportunity to experiment with the creation of spaces generated by the human body rather than generically designed for it. In these spaces for major museum galleries, a circular choreography is rendered through motion capture devices and frozen in space as it intersects a virtual fabric. The experiment shows the possibilities without addressing constructive issues. Two-way stretch fabrics of different thickness and porosity were envisioned as primary materials. Plans for the Museum were abandoned after September 11, 2001.
